The Alien
The silhouette of a thirsty giraffe that appears suddenly from the darkness, searching for some liters of water in the hot conditions in the remoteness of Shompole concession area, Kenya, last summer! Amazing night in an exclusive hide, where I could take the shot at a low-level view under specially made lights in order to watch the wildlife in the night from a water hole! With limited shutter speed, the drops falling from the giraffe were getting net, in front of the dark background!

This image is a stunningly symmetrical wildlife portrait that captures a tender, almost geometric interaction between two Black-winged Stilts.

Against the Storm
This photo was taken during a sandstorm in the Thar Desert, where a Toad-headed agama was standing on a sand dune. Getting an agama during a sandstorm, where the composition, posture, and everything falls in place, was really difficult and challenging. But it was worth experiencing the moment.

A quiet chorus, paused between songs.
Lined up along a slender twig, these Tricolored Munias form a perfect vertical harmony, each bird patiently holding its place. Their striking black, white, and chestnut plumage stands out beautifully against the soft, blurred greens of the landscape, turning a simple perch into a story of balance and togetherness. The gentle spacing between them hints at social order, while their calm postures reflect the quiet moments that define flock life.

Fury of Love
Autumn has arrived in North Italy, bringing with it vibrant colors and the year\'s first cold, short days. The moment the leaves begin to fall, the fallow deer rutting season begins—a fierce battle for dominance that will rage for several weeks. After countless hours in a makeshift blind, I was lucky enough to witness it from a very close perspective: the final clash between two dominant stags. What began as skirmishes and tests of strength escalated into one of the most violent and brutal fights I\'ve ever seen. Only one will claim the harem, the legacy, and the mating rights. And once again this year, the arena will have a single, undisputed winner. It is natural selection at its finest: the right to reproduction for the strongest, resilient, and skilled. In accordance with the harsh law of the forest.

The Claws of Compassion on a golden evening
As his paw comes down, the lioness lowers herself and urinates. An involuntary response to dominance. Not fear. Submission. His claws stay sheathed. He doesn\'t need violence. Just presence. She yields, speaking a language they both know. Raw truth, uncomfortable and honest.

Lunch Time
It may be interesting to say that the gap between seeing subject and taking this photo is about a year. I had been searching around the village several times for a year to see and find a suitable place to photograph the hoopoe. But I could not find the place I wanted to take a good photo of it. But one day, when I was desperately searching, Mother Nature showed me this subject and the nest. The nest was at the right height to take a photo. But because there was a lot of human traffic in that place and I was afraid that some people would draw attention to the nest and disturb the hoopoe, I could not take the photo I wanted that year and that spring. And I waited until the next spring to be able to capture this moment. I thank nature for this gift...

Deer
This series of five photos shows deer crossing a small watercourse located between two forested areas. The entire composition was created over several days of shooting. To capture them, I used a float tube, a diving suit, and camera equipment – a Canon R5 and a 400mm RF lens. The photos were always taken in the early morning hours on different sections of the waterway.

Instinct of Dominance
The series presents a mature red deer stag in his natural environment, showing different moments of behaviour and interaction with the surroundings. A recurring motif is the antlers entangled with branches and leaves, resulting from territorial marking and intense contact with vegetation. This visual element becomes a symbol of presence, strength and control over space. The sequence of images reveals both calm observation and more dynamic expressions, creating a coherent narrative about hierarchy, instinct and the relationship between the animal and its environment. It is a documentary portrait of a dominant male whose behaviour influences the structure and functioning of the herd.

Cannibalism Within the Clan
Cannibalism among spiders has long fascinated arachnologists, yet within the diverse world of jumping spiders (family Salticidae), such behavior is rarely observed and even more rarely documented. The present observation records a striking instance of egg predation — a female Two-Striped Jumper (Telamonia dimidiata) consuming an entire egg sac of its own species. Though such behavior is known to scientists, it has never before been visually documented in this species. During a field survey in the moist undergrowth of Murshidabad, West Bengal, India, I observed a mature female T. dimidiata actively locating and feeding upon an egg sac. The act was deliberate and sustained, indicating a purposeful feeding behavior rather than incidental disturbance. The female pierced the silk casing with her chelicerae, extracted the eggs, and consumed them one by one until the sac was completely emptied. Eggs are among the most protein-rich resources in nature, and such opportunistic cannibalism may represent an adaptive response to nutritional stress or reproductive demand. Female spiders, particularly those engaged in or recovering from oviposition, often face a high metabolic requirement. Consuming non-viable or unguarded eggs may therefore provide a crucial supplement of energy and amino acids necessary for survival or future reproductive success.

A beak full of fish, a heart full of care.
This is no ordinary hunting bird. The Atlantic Puffin, captured here with a beak full of glistening fish, is a devoted parent returning from the unforgiving sea. Though the catch seems abundant, this image silently speaks of the effort, the endurance, and the selflessness behind it. Each fish clutched tightly is the result of countless dives into icy waters not for itself, but for the tiny beaks waiting silently in a burrow. The puffin’s eyes, sharp and alert, carry more than instinct; they reflect duty, exhaustion, and quiet resolve. This moment, frozen in frame, is not just a snapshot of survival. It’s a portrait of love in motion the relentless journey of a parent answering the silent cries of its young. A life risked, not out of necessity alone, but out of care. In that full beak lies not just food but sacrifice.

Western screech owls typically live in small discreet cavities in trees and usually emerge just after sunset to hunt during the night. The patterns of their plumage allow them to blend into the patterns of bark and they are often camouflaged. After the early spring rains this screech owl\'s home is ringed by a halo of fresh green mosses. I was able to try a variety of shutter speeds to best retain detail in the waning light.

The Shape of Survival
Just after sunrise in the Masai Mara, a lioness (Panthera leo) emerged from the tall grass carrying a young warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) in her jaws. The hunt had ended moments earlier. She moved with steady purpose, adjusting her grip only when needed, her eyes alert to the open plains around her. Lionesses often hunt alone in the early hours, relying on stealth and explosive speed. Warthog piglets are especially vulnerable near their burrows at dawn, when brief lapses in vigilance can prove fatal. For a pride, a successful hunt can mean critical nourishment, especially for growing cubs. Across East Africa, lions face mounting pressure from habitat fragmentation and human wildlife conflict beyond protected areas. Safeguarding intact grasslands and healthy prey populations remains essential to their survival. In this fleeting moment, the lioness carried more than a meal. She carried the continuity of her pride, shaped by the enduring balance between predator and prey.

Nature’s Infinity
Two young alligators rest together on a sunlit log, their shapes forming an unbroken line that continues seamlessly into the still water below—an infinity made by nature itself. Photographed at water level in natural light, capturing the calm symmetry of the moment as it occurred, undisturbed.

Law of the Frozen Shore
On a stark Arctic shoreline, two polar bears converge over a fallen seal — a prize wrested from a vanishing world. The sequence traces the silent negotiation of dominance: approach, assessment, confrontation, and reluctant coexistence. In monochrome, texture replaces color — fur against stone, muscle against tide, life against death. What unfolds is not spectacle but necessity. In the Arctic, survival is inherited through strength, timing, and resolve. The ice offers no guarantees; it only tests those who remain.

The Unspoken Pact
Late morning in the Masai Mara, a Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer) stood still on the open plain while two yellow-billed oxpeckers (Buphagus africanus) worked carefully across its face. From ground level in the vehicle, I watched as the birds probed around the eyes and muzzle, removing ticks and biting insects with deliberate precision. The buffalo barely reacted, accepting their presence as part of a familiar exchange. Oxpeckers depend on large mammals for food, targeting areas where parasites concentrate. The buffalo benefits from reduced tick loads, though the relationship is complex. While the birds remove parasites, they may also feed on exposed skin, making this partnership both cooperative and opportunistic. Cape buffalo play a vital role in African ecosystems, supporting predators, scavengers and specialist species like oxpeckers. This quiet interaction reveals how survival on the savannah is built not only on strength, but on small, precise alliances that shape the balance of life on the plains.

Symbiosis in Silence
A herd of elephants rises like a living terrain massive, weathered, and timeless while delicate egrets rest upon them, weightless and unafraid. In this quiet convergence of scale and fragility, the image reveals a profound, unspoken alliance. Captured in Oluvil, Sri Lanka, the elephants embodiments of endurance and memory transform into sanctuaries, carrying life beyond their own. The egrets, drawn to their presence, move gently across their forms, illustrating a relationship built not on dominance, but on coexistence. This moment transcends the ordinary narrative of wildlife; it speaks to a deeper ecological truth where life supports life in its purest form. In a world often defined by conflict, this scene stands as a silent testament to balance, trust, and the beauty of shared existence.

Spirit of a Young Spotted Hyena
In November 2025 at Madikwe Game Reserve I came across a young spotted hyena alone on an elephant carcass, a sight both rare and quietly profound. At first, it seemed a stark image of death, but as I watched, it revealed itself as a meditation on life, on connection, and on the delicate threads that link predator, scavenger, herbivore, plant, and landscape into the rhythm of the wild. The images in this series draw attention to the hyena, to its presence, its quiet intensity. Through composition and tonality, I wanted the viewer to feel the hyena not as a subject observed from afar, but as a being whose gaze invites intimacy, reflection, and understanding. In its eyes one sees survival, curiosity, and the intelligence that allows it to navigate a world of abundance and challenge. Spotted hyenas are often misunderstood, yet they are essential. They are hunters and scavengers, cleaners and balancers, creatures whose presence ensures that the cycle of life continues. Through this series I sought to capture not just their form, but their spirit and the vital role they play in maintaining the equilibrium of the veld. These images are an invitation to witness the rhythm of life and death as it unfolds naturally, to experience the flow of the ecosystem from the perspective of a wild and intelligent participant. This intimate encounter also speaks to the larger ecological context of Madikwe, where the elephant population has grown far beyond what the landscape can sustain. From fewer than 250 elephants in the early 1990s, numbers now exceed 1,600 individuals, placing pressure on vegetation, biodiversity, and the habitats that sustain all species, including the hyena. The impact of these large herds is visible across the reserve. Trees once tall and abundant are now stunted, canopies that once offered shelter to birds and smaller creatures are thinning, and vast areas show vegetation reduced to shrub layers. This imbalance is controversial and challenging for conservation, yet it remains part of the natural cycle, reminding us that abundance is both a gift and a test. In Spirit of a Young Spotted Hyena, the elephant carcass is not a dramatic prop but a quiet symbol of nature’s checks and balances. It is a moment that embodies growth, decay, consumption, and regeneration. It invites reflection on our role in conservation, on how we value different species, and on how we bear witness to both triumph and struggle in the wild. For me, this series is about more than documentation. It is about connection, the type of connection that begins when you meet the gaze of a wild animal and feel its presence resonate within you. It is about sensing the stories beneath the surface, understanding the interdependence of all life, and recognizing the fragile beauty of the natural world. In these images, I hope viewers can experience what I felt in that moment: not standing apart as an observer, but participating in the living tapestry of the veld, in the cycle of life, and in the spirit of a young spotted hyena.

Silent Flight
After a night of snowstorm, the sky cleared up and the sun rose above the horizon. A Long-eared Owl is captured in mid-flight against a serene, pastel-hued sky. The owl, with its wings spread wide, showcases intricate feather patterns and a focused gaze. Below it lies a frosty landscape, where plants are blanketed in a delicate layer of snow, creating a soft, muted foreground. The combination of the owl\'s graceful movement and the tranquil, wintry setting evokes a sense of peace and the raw beauty of nature in its most unspoiled form.

Walking through autumn fire!
In September The taiga forest of Finland, also known as boreal forest, transforms into a breathtaking palette of autumn colours. The most striking feature of Finland’s autumn taiga is the brilliant yellow and gold tones of birch and aspen trees. The vivid yellows form a stunning contrast against the deep greens of the ever-present conifers. As the forest blazes in golds, reds, oranges and greens, the presence of a bear feels almost fairy-tale.

At the Centre of Attention
A mature red deer stag stands in the foreground surrounded by hinds, focused and carefully observing the space ahead. His frontal posture and symmetrical antlers create a strong, balanced composition that immediately draws the viewer’s attention. The softly blurred background and presence of the herd provide natural context, emphasizing the male’s role as the central and most alert figure within the group. It is a calm yet meaningful moment that reveals hierarchy and structure within a red deer herd.

Territorial fight
Let\\\'s see who holds the upper hand in a fierce territorial battle between birds. In the wild, dominance is everything, and when two rivals clash over territory, it\\\'s a test of strength, agility, and strategy. With wings spread wide, sharp beaks clashing, and talons ready to strike, each bird fights to assert control. The battle is intense—swift aerial maneuvers, aggressive calls, and relentless attacks determine the victor. The stronger, more determined bird claims the territory, while the defeated one retreats, awaiting another chance. In nature, survival belongs to the most powerful.

Crown and Call
The four frames present a mature red deer stag among ferns, his antlers entangled with dry vegetation. This natural decoration forms while marking territory and rubbing against shrubs, becoming a visible symbol of dominance. The sequence moves from calm observation to the powerful moment of roaring. The series highlights both physical strength and vocal communication, which play a crucial role in hierarchy and maintaining status within the herd. The autumn background creates a consistent atmosphere and reinforces the seasonal context.

Nature Unleashed
The heat of the Amboseli afternoon was a tangible weight, pressing down upon the tall, amber-tipped grasses that swayed in a lethargic breeze. It was the hour when the sun, having climbed to its zenith, began its slow, golden descent toward the horizon, painting the sky in a soft, ethereal palette of bruised periwinkle and hazy white clouds. In the middle of this vast, sun-baked basin, where the earth surrendered to the marshy embrace of shallow, silt-heavy pools, stood the Matriarch.

Kestrels fightiing for dominance
This photo was taken at Bhigwan Bird Sanctuary, Maharashtra, during an early morning session while I was waiting for the kestrel to take flight. With my frame pre-set, I anticipated a clean flight shot. Instead, an unexpected moment unfolded when another bird suddenly flew in from behind, leading to a brief mid-air tussle with wings fully spread and talons extended. The encounter lasted only seconds, but instinct and preparation allowed me to capture its intensity and symmetry. It is a reminder that wildlife photography rewards patience, awareness, and sometimes, a little luck. Technical: Canon R5, RF 200–800mm at 570mm, f/8, 1/2000s, ISO 1000.

Bearer of the Wild
The series documents a mature red deer stag moving through dense vegetation with antlers heavily burdened by branches and ferns collected during intense territorial marking. The sequence reveals movement, determination and a clear assertion of presence within the landscape. The natural crown of vegetation becomes a visual symbol of dominance and spatial control. The repetition of this motif across different frames creates a coherent narrative about instinct, strength and behavioural continuity, emphasizing the relationship between the animal and its environment. It is a record of a process in which the landscape becomes part of the stag’s image and manifestation of status.

Bound by Love: A Moment of Primate Togetherness.
This heartwarming image captures a tender moment in the life of a rhesus macaque family. A mother cradles her two young ones closely, exuding warmth and protection amidst the dappled forest light. One infant is nursing while the other nestles securely against the mother, their expressive eyes reflecting curiosity and trust. The lush, blurred greenery in the background highlights the intimate connection and natural beauty of primate life in their habitat.

Silent Authority
The series presents a mature red deer stag whose antlers are heavily entangled with branches and leaves after intense territorial marking. The vegetation is not incidental but the result of deliberate behaviour linked to dominance and spatial control. Across the sequence, the stag emerges from the grass, moves closer and confronts the viewer with a frontal presence, creating tension and a strong sense of authority. The recurring motif of the natural crown builds a coherent narrative about strength, control and instinct. It is a documentary portrait of an individual clearly defining territorial boundaries and hierarchical position through behaviour.
