Etude in orange [TOP100]
To create this series of underwater images I used different lightning techniques on a variety of animals as an exercise to show how light can affect the mood of a picture. The color orange was merely used to give each image an easy way to connect to each other for the untrained eye. A mix of direct, back and inward lightning was used on animals whose skins react differently to light, either highlighting its texture, letting it through, completely blocking it or bouncing it back to the viewer.
Luis Arpa Toribio, Spain, Hospitalet

Uncertain Moment [TOP100]
In this series, I tried to capture the simultaneity of people in the spotlight. I wanted to capture the fleeting moments and the quiet solitude of the city by aiming for the spotlight that appears for a short time on the platform of the local train line at Atocha Station. As I looked down at the scene through the lens, I imagined a drama of chance unfolding like in a Paul Auster novel.

The Alien Throne: A Journey Through Time and Light
This series captures the otherworldly beauty of the Alien Throne in New Mexico, a landscape shaped by time, wind, and erosion into surreal formations. Shot at sunset and under the night sky, these images explore the ethereal transition between day and night, where the land glows with the last light of the sun before being swallowed by darkness and starlight. Through long exposures and careful composition, I aim to highlight the eerie, almost extraterrestrial essence of this unique place—where shadows dance among the sculpted rocks, and the universe above mirrors the ancient, weathered terrain below.

Green Dance
This magical and beautiful panorama is a dream come true. Northern Norway and its Arctic islands don\'t give us many chances to get clear skies in winter. Frustration and loneliness were pondering of me these days after seven nights without a green color on the sky. That night, a majestic aurora began to dance over the impressive mountains, embraced by a perfect foreground with its incredible texture created by the snow. The reflection enhanced the scene. It looked like the lights were posing in front of a mirror.

In the foreground, distinctive wave-patterned sandstone formations create a striking contrast with the cosmic display above. The photograph perfectly captures the meeting of earth and sky - ancient geological formations beneath the timeless expanse of our galaxy, visible in exceptional clarity thanks to Arizona\'s pristine dark skies.

Heartbeats of the Arctic - A Bird’s Eye View
For over 11 years, I have been dedicated to drone filming, and 5 years ago, I founded VolandoVoy.Tv, a company specializing in the use of these aerial devices to capture images from impossible angles. This extensive experience has allowed me to gain a deep mastery of drones, particularly in the context of wildlife, having filmed a wide variety of animals in diverse natural settings. Despite the noise that drones typically produce, I have perfected a technique of careful and patient approach. My goal is to allow animals to gradually become familiar with the drone’s presence, enabling surprisingly close interactions without disturbing their natural behavior. This skill has allowed me to capture unique perspectives, getting close to animals without causing discomfort to the different species I’ve filmed. In the exhibition “Heartbeats of the Arctic - A Bird’s Eye View,” I aim to show how, with the responsible use of these tools, it is possible to capture images of animals in their habitat that would otherwise be nearly impossible, due to the danger or complexity of human interaction in their environment. All the photographs in this exhibition were taken with a drone, in some cases operated from several kilometers away and just centimeters from the ground, achieving a perspective similar to that of a ground-based camera. In other instances, I take advantage of the drones’ versatility to capture unique frames in the icy landscapes of the Arctic, offering a different view of this ecosystem and its wildlife. Through this photographic exhibition, I hope to transport you to the majestic landscapes of the Arctic, where its wildlife is endangered as its habitat shrinks due to climate change and the resulting ice melt. I also aim to foster a deep connection with the heartbeat that still resonates in every corner of this wild environment.

Ecos en el agua
“Ecos en el agua” is a project that captures the energy, joy, and connection between dogs and water. Through dynamic and emotionally charged images, this project explores the relationship of these animals with water as a symbol of freedom, play, and nature in motion. Each photograph is unique, showcasing different actions such as swimming, jumping, and running in water, as well as their connection with the natural environment. With an artistic and technical focus, the images aim to convey the vitality of dogs. This project holds social and educational significance by encouraging reflection on animal welfare, the importance of the human-animal bond, and respect for nature. Aimed at an audience of dog lovers, photography enthusiasts, and art admirers, "Ecos in the Water" is a visual symphony that combines technique, creativity, and deep emotions. This project is ideal for exhibitions or campaigns and invites a broad audience to revel in the beauty of moments shared between dogs and water.

ODE TO GLACIERS: Sentinels of Climate Change
The United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Glaciers. This picture gives a voice to glaciers through astrophotography—a voice that urges humanity to combat climate change and preserve these critical ecosystems. Captured in the Pyrenees, the Milky Way core arcs over the melting glacier. A solitary figure symbolizes humanity as both a witness to glacier loss and a catalyst for change.

Chiaroscuro
Ekaterina Kutikova Bgantseva’s street photography documents life in Spain in black and white. Over the past few years, she has explored streets, plazas, and quiet corners, focusing on the relationship between light and shadow. By emphasizing texture, contrast, and geometry, her black-and-white images unreveal the city\'s underlying skeleton—its architecture, rhythms, and inhabitants reduced to essential form.

Reflection Canyon
Without a doubt, this is one of the most remote and difficult places to reach I\'ve ever been in my life. After 80 kilometers on a 4x4 along a rocky road and 25 kilometers on foot, you reach this unique spot where water has formed and sculpted a canyon that looks more like a painting than a real place.

Elegance in Bloom: A Portrait of Grace and Purity
The image shows a young woman with long white hair, dressed in an elaborate ivory or cream-colored outfit. The dress is adorned with delicate floral details in relief, highlighting her ethereal and elegant appearance. She wears an impressive crown or headdress made entirely of flowers, mainly white roses and other light-toned blossoms, creating an aura of delicacy and purity. The background is soft and features floral branches that harmonize with her attire, while the predominant colors are neutral tones, whites, and beiges, giving a sense of calm and sophistication. The soft lighting enhances her facial features, and the overall atmosphere seems inspired by a romantic and classical style, as if it were part of an artistic portrait.

Escarabajo

Calliphoridae
Forensic entomology is responsible for the use of arthropods as evidence in investigations. Its most important application is the estimation of the time between death and the discovery of the corpse. Arthropods carry out cadaveric decomposition, a continuous and measurable process. Those of greatest forensic importance belong to the Calliphoridae family (Diptera). Calliphoridae can colonize (egg) fresh corpses in minutes, using them as a resource for the development of their immature stages.

Legacy in Ink: The Last Mambabatok
Apo Whang-Od, the last mambabatok of the Kalinga tribe, rests after imprinting her ancestral art onto a visitor’s skin. At approximately 106 years old, in her hometown of Buscalan, Philippines, she continues to use citrus thorns and bamboo to perpetuate a millennia-old tradition symbolizing bravery, beauty, and connection to one’s roots. With each tattoo, she conveys not only the stories of her land but also a legacy she has passed on to new generations, ensuring the endurance of Kalinga culture. Her life and work are a testament to resilience, artistry, and pride in indigenous heritage.

The oud maker
The oud maker Sami Afifi works at his workshop located at street level in Downtown Cairo. He is considered one of the most skilled oud manufacturers in Egypt whose craft comes from a family tradition of over 100 years. While visiting him, he was kind enough to let me photograph him as he was working assembling the resonance box and the soundboard. The street was recently cleaned, a puddle of water in front of the workshop caught his reflection creating an aesthetic atmosphere of a singular craftsman at work.

This photo was taken at a damm I wanted to visit for a few months already. I finally had the time to go there and the results were so much better than I expected. My dog had this crazy idea of jumping high into the water, which made it very fun to capture. It describes her pretty well: crazy and stylish at once. Canon R6 | 70-300mm | ISO800 | f/4.5 | 1/1500

Storm's Last Breath
When I arrived, I noticed that the sea had just the right amount of energy to finally attempt a shot I had been envisioning for months. Until now, the conditions had never aligned, but yesterday was the day. The water moved perfectly, creating those silky textures I had in mind, and to our surprise, the sky put on a show just as the sun was about to set.

he Canaries in the Canary Islands is a very common bird, but at the same time beautiful. With this project I want to give them visibility, since although they are very common, they go unnoticed by most. Guardians of the Flame
This photo is part of a larger project exploring the cultural significance of the Fallas festival in Valencia, Spain. The project captures the unique interplay between fire, tradition, and community in a celebration that unites artistry, history, and resilience. Through the lens of the festival, the images delve into themes of impermanence, renewal, and the delicate balance between destruction and creation. Objective: The project seeks to document the vibrant energy and profound meaning of Fallas as more than just a spectacle but as a living tradition deeply rooted in Valencian culture. It portrays the artistry of the monumental sculptures, the emotional crescendo of their burning, and the role of the firefighters as protectors and ceremonial figures within the festival. This Photo: In this particular image, a firefighter sprays water over a towering sculpture moments before its complete incineration. The photograph highlights their dual role: safeguarding the surrounding city and symbolically moderating the festival's transformative fire. The crowd honors them not only for their service but also as integral participants in the ritual. The water glistens in the night, juxtaposed against the blazing flames, creating a striking visual contrast. Overall Significance: Each image in the project reflects a different aspect of the Fallas—its artistry, community, and cathartic destruction. Together, they form a narrative of a city that finds beauty in the fleeting, expressing its identity in the cycle of creation and letting go.

\"Light Through Ice\" This photograph captures a magical moment where nature\'s frozen beauty unveils its secrets. The entrance to the ice cave, softly blurred in the background, symbolizes mystery and the unknown. But the real focus lies on the foreground: the intricate textures of the ice, illuminated by a gentle light breaking through. These natural patterns, like imprints of time, tell the story of millennia locked within the frozen layers. The light seeping through serves as a reminder that even in the coldest and most unreachable places, nature offers moments of extraordinary beauty and warmth.
