Janusz Russek has been using the stage name Mr.Chap for many years. In 2024-25,he will be engaged by the largest Czech circus, Humberto. The photographs capture the clown in a way that the audience cannot see him. Preparations behind the scenes, life in his small caravan, the joys and worries of everyday life, when there is often no smile on his face. In the circus, the audience must not know that he is suffering from, for example, health, separation from family and many other everyday problems. In the circus, he always has to entertain people and sometimes it costs him a lot of energy.
Men were seen painting a building belonging to the Islamic Society (Musjidun Nasr) in Queensbury, South Africa. This photo was taken while driving past to visit the family of the South African Ambassador to France, Nathi Mthethwa who allegedly committed suicide. Photo: SANDILE NDLOVU
During past 10 years, I have been photographing in streets of Iran, specially Tehran (Capital) and Karaj ( a city near capital). In recent years authorities have special attention in making cities more attractive for local dwellers and turists.
Painting the surrounding walls all across the town is one of a kind, Although some argue that building walls and specificlly seperating and owning stray lands or those which do not have owners by speculators and individuals should be baned by government.
In this series, I tried to show and match these painted walls with people and passerbies.
At dusk, the waves gently caressed the sandy shore, and the distant city was faint and indistinct. He and I strolled along the coastline, and together, we formed a home.
The Nine Emperor Gods Festival (popularly known as the Vegetarian Festival) is a profound cultural phenomenon rooted in Chinese folk beliefs, flourishing with unique local intensity in Southern Thailand. Celebrated during the ninth lunar month, devotees observe strict spiritual cleansing through vegetarianism and the wearing of white robes. In regions like Phang Nga and Phuket, the festival is renowned for its extreme sensory rituals—spirit mediums manifesting divine presence amidst \\\"rainfalls\\\" of firecrackers and thick gunpowder smoke. It is a breathtaking spectacle where spiritual devotion meets physical endurance, representing a collective quest for purification and ancestral blessing.
The Baker Street subway station located in London is one of the earliest subway stations in the world. Although it has been in use for over 160 years and its interior decoration is rather outdated, it has always maintained normal operation.
This photograph was taken in a corner of a commercial complex in Tokyo.
By combining the blue of the sky with pedestrians walking along the orange pavement reflected on the roof, an unreal sensation was created, as if the people were walking on a skywalk high above.
While crossing the bridge from one side to the other, I noticed workers carrying out track maintenance between passing trains. In the background, an approaching train can be seen.
Amid the constant motion of the street, she sits—unmoving, watchful, and grounded. Framed through the geometry of passing bicycles and surrounded by traffic, people, and stray dogs, her presence becomes a quiet counterpoint to the city’s urgency. The world rushes forward, but she remains, holding her space with silent resilience.
The low morning light turns the street into a stage of shadows and gold, isolating her figure while still binding her to the life around her. I used the bicycle frame as a visual boundary to place the viewer inside the street rather than observing from a distance. This image is not about speed or spectacle—it is about endurance, about the people who exist in the in-between spaces of the city, where waiting itself becomes a form of survival.
It\\\'s late at night, and the lights of the old residential building have gradually gone out. The wanderers on their way back are walking on their way home
While walking through the alleys of Kathmandu I came across this elderly lady. I was struck by the color of her hands and the contrast it created on her clothes. She held 20 rupees (0.14 euros) with so much attention, that she made me think about the intrinsic value of money and the value we attribute to it.

Winter mornings are special. They remind me that even the quietest moments have something to say. In the mist, countless stories feel as if they are slowly revealing themselves. I have tried to capture the essence of the early hours.
In an underground station where trains arrive and depart with mechanical precision, time does not move equally for everyone.
Some bodies dissolve into motion, blurred by urgency and routine, while others remain suspended in moments of private stillness.
This photograph was taken in May 2025 while I was visiting Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia. I noticed how interesting the repeated colorful circles were, so I waited for someone wearing a contrasting shirt to enter the composition.
A high-angle photograph capturing a fleeting instant as strangers cross paths within a narrow beam of sunlight. The dramatic interplay of light and deep shadow highlights this brief intersection on the zebra crossing before they fade back into the urban shade.
Beneath the overpass, the city divides into shadow and light. A single beam traces the curve of the road, guiding a lone cyclist through the quiet geometry of the day. For a moment, the ordinary becomes luminous.
The photo was taken with Leica Summarit LTM 50mm/F1.5 1952 and Leica M11
This is my shadow lens. No sun or light. I\'ve started liking gray again. A rare lens for winter.
\\\"The world of food delivery couriers is so vast that everyone who works in it feels truly alone. But without them, rushing to us every second, our lives would come to a standstill\\\"
In the golden hush of a Venetian summer morning, a gondolier leans quietly on a bridge, lost in thought, as the narrow canal behind him waits in silent anticipation. The striped shirt, sunhat, and tattoos mark a modern spirit rooted in timeless tradition. This image captures more than a city, it reflects a pause between journeys, where centuries of history breathe through the still waters and shuttered windows of Venice. A fleeting, contemplative moment in a place where time flows like the canals themselves.
Two girls step into a shaft of light from the skylight above, turning as if answering a distant voice. In that brief, suspended moment, the light becomes a call—and their movement becomes its quiet reply.
Exactly 20 years ago, my wife, a couple of friends and I went on a tourist trip to Cuba, with images of waving palm trees, white beaches, typical vintage cars, old ladies smoking cigars and portraits of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara in our minds.
Despite the fact that it was a wonderful trip, 20 years later I still had the feeling that I had largely missed the authentic feel of Cuba.
As a result, we decided to take another trip through Cuba in 2024, although from a completely different perspective and away from the well-trodden tourist paths.
This time, we did not stay in huge hotels but in so-called
“Casas Particulares” and we did not travel by car but by local taxi or bus in order to be as close to the people as possible.
It was an experience to remember. I was particularly charmed by the fact that people live outside on the streets, often in very poor conditions, but are nevertheless extremely hospitable.
With this series, I don\'t want to convey the typical image of Cuba, nor do I want to turn it into a historical document, but rather share a small piece of my feelings about how I experienced this vibrant street life.
A quiet fragment of everyday life, where a thin surface becomes an invisible boundary.
Separated yet connected, the figures exist within the same space, shaped only by light, shadow, and distance.
This striking image captures a moment of synchronized effort framed by high-contrast geometry. The silhouettes of two figures dominate the foreground, their forms rendered in deep black against the weathered, sun-drenched facade of an industrial building.
Amid countless empty chairs, one quiet presence remains — absorbed in a small world of words.
In the vastness of absence, solitude becomes both refuge and witness to passing time.
Guided by the geometry of the structure, a lone figure follows an implied direction.
At the edge, however, a quiet alternative remains — present, yet unnoticed.
This is a street photography of Mallick Ghat, Kolkata which is one of the biggest flower market of Asia.
An old man was cleaning the street and some pigeons were flying, with the juxtaposition style , I took a photo of the old man between the pigeons which created a motion in the photo.
Street Hues is a visual exploration of color in the urban landscape. Through minimal compositions and strong contrasts, each photograph captures fleeting moment of everyday life , turning streets into palettes of light, shadow and colors. This series celebrates the poetry of the city, where ordinary scenes become extraordinary , and even the simplest urban moments bloom with color
The contrast between man and his grandeur. In this square, concrete soars toward the sky and walls curve like waves. A small figure in a straw hat reminds us that all this greatness was built for him, yet he walks through it alone.
The cityscape viewed from a high vantage point. Cherry blossoms drift down from the trees, coloring the streets. A solitary figure with a red umbrella crosses the crosswalk, adding a vivid splash of color to the restrained urban landscape. The painted road markings guide the eye, creating an impression of a quiet morning despite the absence of surrounding skyscrapers.
The golden exterior wall, wrinkled by time, unfolds into a soft fold,
The dark opening revealed is like a crack in time, quietly awaiting to lead one into another space.
Photograph taken in Saitama Shintoshin, Japan.
The interplay of light resembling crossing gazes and the security guard conveys a sense of tension, as if surveilling the city.
A visual interrogation of reality versus projection. The fabric acts as a screen where the shadow (the illusion) seems more structured and rigid than the fluid, organic movement of the human holding it.
A rhythmic play of light and geometry where the boundaries between the physical and the ephemeral blur. As figures climb toward the unknown, their shadows weave a silent narrative of urban solitude and the collective journey of the modern soul
This photograph was clicked at the train station which is located in Bangladesh , Tongi Dhaka . In this photograph a boy was jumped for secure his placement on the roof of a train and everyone was shocked and looking at him .
These photographs were taken in Tokyo.
By effectively framing the diagonal lines of the escalator, the marble-patterned pillars, and the lattice-like objects, I sought to express the complex geometry of the city.
A woman climbs the iconic staircase as the midday sun strikes from above. Her shadow stretches sharply behind her, as if urging her to turn toward the self reflected the wall. In this moment, light becomes both companion and pursuer.
This photograph, taken in Tokyo, captures the light streaming in a band-like pattern through the gaps in the building\'s roof. By using a 24mm wide-angle lens, the view below was deliberately distorted to create a triangular arrow-like effect.
– The rating of photographers by countries and cities is based on the three best photos of the author and their relative position in each separate nomination. Rating in the nomination "Mobile Photography" is taken into account to a lesser extent for rating formation. The list by country and city shows one photo of the author with the best rating.
– Only those photos have been published in the list that passed the second stage of voting.
– Only one strongest photo from each author is counted in the Best Photos ranking. Even if a photographer has several published works, only the highest-rated one is used to calculate their ranking position. As a result, the order of photos in the list may not match the author's final ranking position.
