Description
The images depict the Peter and Paul Fortress situated on Zayachy Island in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Photographers focus on this landmark to capture the contrast between the illuminated stone walls and the changing colors of the twilight sky over the Neva River. The shots vary by time of day, ranging from deep blue night scenes with sharp reflections to vibrant sunset views with orange and purple clouds. Historical context is provided by the fortress's founding in 1703 by Peter the Great. All images share the same architectural subject framed against the water.
