Half doll and half human.
BORN THROUGH MASS PRODUCTION AND OFTEN INCOMPLETE, THE MANNEQUINS ARE PROGRESSIVELY TRANSFORMED UNTIL THEY END UP TAKING ON A PERSONALITY ON THE SHOP WINDOWS. THEIR PLASTIC NATURE BECOMES HUMAN WITH AN IDENTITY MARKED BY CULTURAL, RELIGIOUS AND SOCIAL VALUES OF THE PLACES WHERE THEY ARE EXHIBITED. SOMETIMES THEY SHOW PARTIAL NUDITY, EROTIC FORMS OR OUTFITS OF GREAT DISCRETION AND MODESTY.
THE MANNEQUINS INVITE YOU TO 'BE LIKE THEM' AND THUS THEY BECOME IDEAL, APPEARANCE AND FANTASY, AND YOU BECOME 'YOURSELF' BY ADOPTING THEIR STYLE AND FORM. THEY CONTRIBUTE TO DEFINE A SENSE OF CLASS AND BELONGING, DICTATING FASHION.
THEIR DOUBLE NATURE – DOLL/MAN – FORCES THEM TO BE TRANSPORTED FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER, BUT THEY THEMSELVES CARRY VALUES AND SYMBOLS. THEY ARE EVOLVING FACTORIES OF DREAMS AND DESIRES THAT END UP BY IMPOSING THEMSELVES.
