Кокпар – одна из древнейших кочевых игр в Казахстане. В нее играли много сотен лет. Это своего рода целая культура, воспитавшая не одно поколение искусных наездников и воинов.
Кокпар – это козлодрание. Суть игры заключается в том, что всадники на конях борются за обезглавленную тушу козла, забирая ее у соперников и забивая «гол» в специальные ворота. По сути, это симбиоз регби и верховой езды.
В древности группа наездников гналась за волком. Самый быстрый всадник убивал зверя дубиной и забрасывал его поперек седла. Остальные наездники как бы в шутку пытались отнять волка.
В кокпаре могли принимать участие до тысячи игроков одновременно. Эта традиция существует в казахских аулах (селах) и сегодня. В таком случае каждый участник играет сам за себя.
Современный кокпар представляет собой настоящую игру по правилам. Для этого вида спорта организуют специальное поле размером 220 на 75 метров. Ворота обозначают или флажками или делают углубление в земле – казандык. Но в последнее время от казандыка все чаще отказываются, потому что из-за них случается много травм. Игроки делятся на две команды по 10-12 человек, при этом одновременно играют только по четыре человека из каждой команды. В рамках одной игры участники постоянно выходят на замену друг другу, потому что кокпар требует большой физической выносливости.
С козлиной тушей играть довольно сложно, потому что в среднем она весит около 40 килограммов, а хватать ее можно только одной рукой. Несколько раз тушу пытались заменить муляжом, но его было неудобно держать, а также брать на большой скорости.
Кокпар – жестокая игра, но очень зрелищная. Современные правила игры возникли только в ХХ веке. Чем-то они напоминают хоккей, ведь в кокпаре тоже несколько периодов (от двух до трех) по 20 минут каждый, а также есть буллиты (штрафные броски) и удаление с поля. Здесь запрещены физические увечья соперников. Также в игре важна не только подготовка наездника, но и спортивная форма лошади. Говорят, что для кокпара выводят специальных коней, скрещивая разные породы.
