The mud wrestling festival in Van village is "unique" and imbued with the spirituality of the settled rice farmers. The round ball is yang (symbolizing the sun), and the hole represents yin, yin and yang harmony means everyone will prosper, all will be peaceful and that is also the wish of the community, looking forward to a new year. The rain is favorable and the crops are lush. The prayer festival takes place in the Temple yard, which is more than 200 square meters wide and filled with mud. The water pouring into the yard is Cau River water as girls wearing traditional clothes of Northern villages carry water from the river using traditional light baskets. Water is stored in earthen jars of Tho Ha village, the type of jar used to store wine. At both ends of the field there are two holes nearly 1 meter deep and more than half a meter wide. The team that hugs the shuttlecock and pushes it into the opponent's shuttlecock hole is the winning team. The ball is made of wood, weighs about 20 kg.
