This photo was taken during a barbarian action that took place at the Sandavagur village, Faroe Islands. The action is called "The Grinding" for an ancient name of a whale - grind also known as the pilot whale.
This is a tradition is all about a massive massacre of dozens of pilot whales (approx. 800 whales per year).
