Char Kaliganj, slum and home to one of the largest shipyards in Asia. The noise is incredibly loud. Looks like time is marked by thousands of hammers banging incessantly against the bodies of these huge ships to remove the rust.
Rusty, old supertanker ships come to die in this place when their lives as vessels on the ocean expire.
The age of labourers ranges from 8 to 80 and they all work together.
The work is hard, crude, dirty and dangerous but it gives thousands of them employment and wages to feed their families (Dhaka, Bangladesh '17).
Shot done during the night on July 25th 2017 at the "Sant'Antioco Saltworks" placed in San Giovanni Suergiu.
Walking around the place it seems I was on a lunar place. I know, I've never been there, but, I imagine to be there.
The picture was taken in 2017. It was in a busy shopping center. Seeing the interesting shadows, I waited a long time for a hero in the frame. There were many people. Somewhere in 20 minutes I still managed to shoot a moving object. Thank you 35awards 2017 for the chance to participate in the contest
The zebra photo shoot was born after a dark period of my life, in the wakes of which I intended to reflect on the concept of precultural reality, concrete reality, and focus on the concept of woman[hood].
In the savannah, mother nature has given us a clear example with the zebra, whose physical characteristics allow it to be camouflaged from lions, who only see monochromatically, but not from humans.
Here, the zebra in question is the woman, whose central role within our existence remains relative, and whose perception depends on the sensibility of the observer.
Are we lions, or can we see beyond?
The print is on painting canvas, rather than fine art canvas, to remind us of the essentials; the 100 x 100 cm dimensions are slightly non-standard as we all need to move out of conformism in order to have a better perspective on that what surrounds us; the square format is to draw in the observer and be more focused on the subject.
This picture is taken during the Holy Week in Canose of Puglia (a small town in a region full of history, art, culture, traditions, excellence at south of Italy), before easter. This strret portrait is a small part of the religious ritual of the procession of the “Madonna della Desolata” during the morning of the Holy Saturday. There is a chorus composed by 380 women between 20 and 60 years, not professional singers, but shared by the same faith, strictly black dressed with the face completely hidden by a curtain, composed by vibrant and unique voices wich accompany the statue of the “Madonna della Desolata”, for the death of Christ during the Holy Friday, depicted on the rock of the Sepulcher with the scripture "Sepulcrum domini", through the impeccable guide of Master Mimmo Masotina, who for 50 years has directed with passion and dedication the Choir of the Desolate, leaving his son his same role since last edition, that give rhythm to an evocative hymn composed by penetrating sounds wich give rise to strong emotions, From the poetic text of Jacopone da Todi (1233-1306), repeated more and more time during the path wich crosses the most antique area of the town, the beginning and the end is the Saints Biagio and Francesco Church, a strong need to cry wich quenches only with pain contemplation of the Virgin Desolate. Photographic concept in a strict black and white proposition, structured on a iconic and symbolic power by searching for some details of one of the most followed regional religious event.
The landscape, is a socio-territorial product in which it settled the historical relationship between man and nature, which is expressed in the times through a system of signs, a set of materials meanings. This is the central value of the landscape as it is revealed as a document of the area's history and the men who built it, memory tank. It follows an added value: the value of cultural heritage in its entirety widespread integral heritage.
When you go in Iceland.. you can go in tourist places or discover unknown locations.
I love the second opportunity but if you stay in this kind of location, the nature pretend respect... and whe have to give respect and preserve nature.
Golden beetle in the ancient egypt was the symbol of resurrection: beetle amulets were placed on the mummies to symbolize the rebirth of the deceased.
Gold is purity, is a sacred colour. She's a pure white freckled girl, with iced eyes.
I wanted to symbolize myself and my experience.
The hard period I lived what made me stop taking photos for a long time and my resurrection in photography, being stronger.
Trinidad, Cuba, January 2017. Ramon, this old man, was sitting on a step smoking a cigar.
He was observing, aloof and silently, the flow of time and the slow change of his city. With his eyes, yellowed by time, he stared at me, saying nothing. But his deep gaze told me everything. That's why I've decided to take this picture. What's more, I was fascinated by the bright colours sorrounding him and by his appearance: he had something, I can't say what, that reminded me my grandfather.
The Muses have a very high, indeed unique, place in the divine hierarchy. They are called daughters of Zeus, born of Mnemosyne, the Goddess of memory; but this is not all, because to them, and to them alone, it is reserved to bring, like the father himself of the Gods, the appellative of the Olympics, appellation with which they usually honored the Gods in general, but - at least originally - no God in particular, made exception to Zeus and the Muses
