This was the last big panorama I captured during our two-week astro trip in Namibia. I aimed to photograph the four largest galaxies visible in our sky—something only possible just before dawn.
On the left are the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, on the right is Andromeda, and in the center, the Milky Way—all part of our galactic neighborhood, the Local Group.
To the right of the canyon is a seasonal waterfall, already dry since the rainy season. A strong green airglow was also visible to the north, appearing on the right side of the Milky Way arch.
I woke at 3:30 AM and headed to the canyon in complete darkness. Luckily, two astro friends joined me, and with our 4x4, we didn’t have to walk all the way from our accommodation.
I had to work quickly to finish the image before dawn. The sky had already begun to brighten during my final few frames, but I managed to complete the panorama without needing those exposures.
The dark skies at Isabis Farm are truly exceptional—I\\\'d love to return to this unique place someday.
