Foliage Photo Contest Rules
This nomination is dedicated to the leaf as an independent subject of photography. Form, texture, vein structure, color, and light-shadow patterns become the primary expressive means of the image. The leaf serves as the main compositional and semantic element, not as part of a landscape or a secondary detail.
Works of any genre are accepted: macro photography, still life, product photography, portraits with a leaf as a plastic accent, studio and outdoor shooting. Leaves from trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants, and houseplants are permitted.
The key requirement is the leaf as a botanical object.
A thoughtful authorial approach is welcomed: working with depth of field, light, form, space, and composition.
Accepted:
- Photographs in which a leaf or leaves are the main subject of the frame
Not accepted:
- Flowers, buds, inflorescences, and compositions where the main subject is a flower
- Landscapes where foliage is part of the overall natural view
- Shots where the leaf is not the compositional center
- Photographs where the leaf is used exclusively as a background for another subject
