Vulnerable as per IUCN Red List
For over two days, I was searching for this dominant male and his brother in and around the area where they were last seen. But I had no luck. On the third day, when I was returning to the camp at the end of the safari, my driver suddenly spotted him in an area near the camp where he has never been seen before. He was on our right and he had a kill which was hidden in the bush. Then we spotted his brother to our left, who stood up and started approaching the kill which triggered this snarl from the dominant male. His savage, snarling face was a sight to behold in the fading light!
