I made this photograph in my village, Wadarai, in Maharashtra, India. While searching my backyard for macro subjects at sunset, I discovered two crane flies hanging from a long strand of spider silk. A narrow beam of orange light filtered through the foliage and fell across them. With a wide aperture I achieved a pleasing bokeh from that light, which made it appear as if the sun was directly behind the subjects and rendered the crane flies as striking silhouettes. The leaves’ gentle sway diffused the light, producing an ethereal, aurora-like glow around them. Using these elements, I captured the delicate interplay of light and shadow in a single frame.
