This image was captured on the day of our first trek. Our journey was from Khecheopalri to Yuksom, following a comparatively unexplored route following local trails. We had no guide and lost the trail deep in the forest. The path was unclear with uncertainty looming thick in the air — but we still kept moving, trusting our instinct and each other. Hours later, tired and silent, we stumbled upon this waterfall. And just like that, everything paused. The calm motion, the still air, the sound of the water echoing through the valley — it felt like the forest had exhaled just for us. That moment washed away the fear and filled us with a strange peace, calmness and a burst of energy. We picked up our sticks, adjusted our rucksacks, and continued on our journey, not just toward our destination — but with a clearer mind and a lighter heart. This wasn\\\'t just nature. It was guidance when we had none.
This is the first photograph from the series \\\"Westward Whispers: A Sikkim Trek\\\", a visual journal of a planned journey I undertook with my Shouvik da and Chandril through the wild trails of West Sikkim. It was my first trek — challenging, immersive, and deeply memorable. Each frame in this series captures moments of discovery, connection, and the quiet guidance of nature.
