Nohkalikai Falls and the Tragic Tale of Likai Nohkalikai Falls in Meghalaya, India, is not only a beautiful natural site but also the center of a tragic story. Likai, a woman from Rangjyrteh village, lost her husband and was left to raise her baby girl alone. She worked hard as a porter to provide for her child. Later, she remarried, hoping for a better life. Sadly, her new husband, filled with jealousy, killed her baby girl and served her remains to Likai in a meal. When Likai discovered the truth, she was overwhelmed with grief and ran to the edge of a cliff, where she jumped to her death. The falls were named \" Nohkalikai,\" which means \" Likai\'s leap\" in the Khasi language, in memory of her heartbreaking fate. Today, the falls stand as both a natural marvel and a somber reminder of the depths of human sorrow, where Likai\'s story flows on in its cascading waters.
