-Surf Fugitive-
A surfer cuts across the face of a breaking wave, suspended between balance and collapse. The aerial perspective compresses speed, force, and trajectory into a single instant, where motion becomes the subject itself.
The Saluki built for wind and distance, is devotion made visible—equal parts grace and grit. In this surge of water and dark, he becomes a study in contrast: softness that can soothe, power that can fly. He runs as if answering a silent call from his people, every stride a promise kept—whether he’s grounding a room as a steady therapy dog or switching into pure kinetic joy for sport. This image holds the truth of him: elegant, fearless, and utterly loyal—moving through chaos with purpose, and always returning to the ones he serves.
Taken whilst visiting a dear friend . He showing me his rose garden and out she popped curios to see who was at her door. I quickly set up a photo stack with my olympus EM1Mrk 2 before she decided she had enough of posing for this silly man and scuttled off into the flower to wait for somthing more interesting.
This photographic series documents the daily lives of young Buddhist novice monks in Thailand and Laos through moments of ordinary childhood. Rather than focusing on ceremony or religious symbolism, the work centres on the routines that structure their days: completing homework, playing football, getting haircuts, and spending time together inside monastery grounds.
By foregrounding these shared experiences, the photographs draw parallels between monastic life and childhood elsewhere. Scenes of study, play, and quiet contemplation mirror those of boys around the world, situating religious life within the familiar rhythms of growing up.
The photographs were made with local access and consent, allowing for close, observational documentation of daily life as it unfolds. The series aims to present monastic childhood not as something distant or exotic, but as a lived experience shaped equally by discipline, routine, and play.
– The rating of photographers by countries and cities is based on the three best photos of the author and their relative position in each separate nomination. Rating in the nomination "Mobile Photography" is taken into account to a lesser extent for rating formation. The list by country and city shows one photo of the author with the best rating.
– Only those photos have been published in the list that passed the second stage of voting.
– Only one strongest photo from each author is counted in the Best Photos ranking. Even if a photographer has several published works, only the highest-rated one is used to calculate their ranking position. As a result, the order of photos in the list may not match the author's final ranking position.
