The yellow snout beetle
This is a Lixus angustatus, I think, a nicely yellow weevil of unusual construction.
This beetle is one of the 6000 species in this family.
They are known to fall from the tree or bush when they are discovered and then lie dead.
Furthermore, they mainly eat leaves, flowers, twigs of root or bark from various plants.
They are not known as harmful insects.
