Initially, miniature scenery the walls and floor of the prison, as well as the Tin woodman himself, were made for the work. The creation of the Tin woodman took 2 empty deodorant cans, lego joints and some parts were printed on a 3D printer. The world is full of amazing places but too often people seem to be distracted by screens. Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is put the screens away and enjoy being alive.
I was in Salt Lake City visiting friends and decided I wanted to get a photo in the Bonneville Salt Flats which is about an hour and a half away. I figured watching tv in the salt flats would be an interesting photo so I found an old box tv and borrowed a generator and extension cord. My friend Jen drove her van with me and all of my things to the salt flats.
It was hovering around freezing and very windy as I set up my camera on a tripod and put it on a timer. I ran back and forth laying and sitting in front of the tv in different ways until I got this photo. Later in photoshop I touched out the extension cord.
This is a concept photo inspired by life in apartment buildings and neighbors who care too much about other people's personal problems. Paying too much attention to the private lives of others is a situation that occurs everywhere, making victims sometimes uncomfortable, annoyed, tired and have low self-esteem. This is an unhealthy action that we need to join hands to eliminate.
I have created this minimal conceptual image from the combination of a photo I shot with my camera and the illustration and application of graphic works in Photoshop.
In this piece, "Echoes of Memory," I attempt to capture the impact of time's passage on individual memories. The scene is filled with symbolic objects and colors intended to evoke reflection on the past in the viewer. An ancient wooden box, sitting at the center of this scene, represents the container where we store our memories. Atop it sits a faceless figure, looking into the distance, symbolizing the anonymity and isolation of people's memories.
I chose a saturated green for the background to create a sense of the inner world, with its depth and tranquility. This color also hints at nature and growth, reminding us that memories often grow and change unseen. As time passes, memories fade and wear away like the peeling paint on the wall.
The mirror hanging on the wall is not merely decorative. It reflects the light from outside, reminding us of the external world's existence, even if we choose to close our eyes. The framed picture in the mirror, with text that prompts deeper contemplation, is a hint from me to the viewer: all our memories are framed through personal interpretation.
I hope this work will provoke introspection about time, memory, and the essence of existence. How do our memories shape us, and how do they quietly change our self-perception without our noticing? This is an open question I leave for each viewer to explore.
