Photographs of the city of arts in Valencia, from different locations and in different light conditions. Dramatic, colorful skies, rainy days...
It's an amazing spot for photographers and i'm lucky to have it at 15 minutes in car from my home.
The image shows a young woman with long white hair, dressed in an elaborate ivory or cream-colored outfit. The dress is adorned with delicate floral details in relief, highlighting her ethereal and elegant appearance. She wears an impressive crown or headdress made entirely of flowers, mainly white roses and other light-toned blossoms, creating an aura of delicacy and purity.
The background is soft and features floral branches that harmonize with her attire, while the predominant colors are neutral tones, whites, and beiges, giving a sense of calm and sophistication. The soft lighting enhances her facial features, and the overall atmosphere seems inspired by a romantic and classical style, as if it were part of an artistic portrait.
This photo is part of a larger project exploring the cultural significance of the Fallas festival in Valencia, Spain. The project captures the unique interplay between fire, tradition, and community in a celebration that unites artistry, history, and resilience. Through the lens of the festival, the images delve into themes of impermanence, renewal, and the delicate balance between destruction and creation.
Objective:
The project seeks to document the vibrant energy and profound meaning of Fallas as more than just a spectacle but as a living tradition deeply rooted in Valencian culture. It portrays the artistry of the monumental sculptures, the emotional crescendo of their burning, and the role of the firefighters as protectors and ceremonial figures within the festival.
This Photo:
In this particular image, a firefighter sprays water over a towering sculpture moments before its complete incineration. The photograph highlights their dual role: safeguarding the surrounding city and symbolically moderating the festival's transformative fire. The crowd honors them not only for their service but also as integral participants in the ritual. The water glistens in the night, juxtaposed against the blazing flames, creating a striking visual contrast.
Overall Significance:
Each image in the project reflects a different aspect of the Fallas—its artistry, community, and cathartic destruction. Together, they form a narrative of a city that finds beauty in the fleeting, expressing its identity in the cycle of creation and letting go.

– The rating of photographers by countries and cities is based on the three best photos of the author and their relative position in each separate nomination. Rating in the nomination "Mobile Photography" is taken into account to a lesser extent for rating formation. The list by country and city shows one photo of the author with the best rating.
– Only those photos have been published in the list that passed the second stage of voting.
– Only one strongest photo from each author is counted in the Best Photos ranking. Even if a photographer has several published works, only the highest-rated one is used to calculate their ranking position. As a result, the order of photos in the list may not match the author's final ranking position.
