Wings Over Concrete: Urban Birds' Interlaced Flight Through City Streets [TOP100]
"Wings Over Concrete" is a project about the birds flying above us in busy cities are like performers in a unique dance that often goes unnoticed. While we might not always pay attention, these birds play a vital role in maintaining the balance between urban life and nature. Watching them soar around tall buildings creates a beautiful blend of nature and the man-made world.
In the hustle and bustle of cities, birds bring color and life to the streets and buildings. Wings Over Concrete explores how birds adapt to city life and add beauty to urban environments. City streets aren’t just for people—they’ve become pathways for a variety of birds. Doves glide gracefully, gulls weave through crowds, and pigeons perform elegant aerial moves, all while adjusting to the challenges of living among concrete and steel. Their ability to thrive in cityscapes is truly remarkable.
Bull riding is the most dangerous sport in rodeo. During the ride, cowboys must follow the rules while facing a test of nerves with a tough bull. The rider depends on bullfighters to distract the bull until he is safely out of its range.
This image is part of my project 'Wings over Concrete,' a unique storytelling approach using bird patterns captured through photography. A red-tailed hawk soars with precision, its flight path tracing a perfect arc across the sky. The rolling terrain below serves as a quiet stage for the hawk’s masterful movement, blending power and elegance in its pursuit. This moment captures the hawk’s innate connection to the land, its curved trajectory embodying the balance between predator and prey, earth and sky—a true symbol of nature’s artistry in motion. Captured at the very start of its flight, the red-tailed hawk soars with controlled strength, its wings carving through the open sky with confidence. This moment of takeoff is a powerful reminder of the hawk’s mastery of both land and air.

– The rating of photographers by countries and cities is based on the three best photos of the author and their relative position in each separate nomination. Rating in the nomination "Mobile Photography" is taken into account to a lesser extent for rating formation. The list by country and city shows one photo of the author with the best rating.
– Only those photos have been published in the list that passed the second stage of voting.
– Only one strongest photo from each author is counted in the Best Photos ranking. Even if a photographer has several published works, only the highest-rated one is used to calculate their ranking position. As a result, the order of photos in the list may not match the author's final ranking position.
