PANCH DHOONI (PRAYERS IN FIVE FIRE LAYERS)
PANCH DHOONI
After completion of third (last) shahi snan, NAGA SADHUS (Ash-smeared and dreadlocked Naga sadhus or Hindu ascetics) do Worship of Sacred Fire & ash is called as Panch (five) Dhooni, where five layers of cow dung pellets are set on fire, in middle of which the Sadhu sits to perform the Sadhna. This first stage is done in Kumbh, but In further stages the layers and numbers of pellets increase in form of seven, twelve, and eighty four which are performed in their places.
This is the reason a Guru carefully chooses the suitable disciple for Dhooni penance. It is said that the last stage of this practice is very less achieved.
