Shadows Within
This project is focused on Politics. Nigerian political landscape is known to be dominated by cabals and/or godfathers as the case may be. Etymoligically, the term ‘cabal’ derives from the esoteric Hebrew word ‘Kabbalah’ and originally referred to a cult or secret society. In the Nigerian political context, cabals are set of faceless individuals known to influence the government especially in a democratic regime. Directly or indirectly, they have corrosive effects on political transparency and accountability. There exist a moment of reflection and a turning point in every political aspirant in the course of his/her political race. While political campaigns and elections are on going, the cabals detrmine the fate of the populace with their selfish and well calculated decisions on the outcome of any electoral exercise. The masses are void of their freedom to use their franchise in determining a democratic leader. While citizens go individually or in group to exercise their franchise and post election discussions and naratives are in progress among the people, these cabals sit with no conscience to impose a leader of their choice based solely on selfcenteredness on the masses. It is such pathetic a situation to the degree of submissiveness of the government at all levels to these faceless individuals called ‘Cabals.
