Amid the twilight of the Amazonian forests of Putumayo, Colombia, where night transforms the jungle into a stage of mysteries, I captured this encounter with the sinuous elegance of Epicrates cenchria. Commonly known as the rainbow boa due to the iridescent qualities of its scales, here its body reveals in greater detail the pattern of orange and black markings that seem to ignite against the darkness.
This non-venomous constrictor is a nocturnal hunter, lying in absolute patience among the branches as it waits for the precise moment to seize birds, small mammals, and lizards. As if suspended in time, the protagonist reminds us that, at times, the jungle’s purest beauty emerges only when night falls, when rainbows learn to shine in the dark.
