About
A wild bird is the embodiment of freedom governed by its own laws. Its presence combines innate grace, precision of movement, and independence shaped by evolution—not by humankind.
A powerful photograph of a bird conveys more than its physical appearance—it captures the essence of wild life: a sudden takeoff from a calm water surface, an intense gaze from a treetop perch, effortless soaring on thermal currents, nurturing behavior at the nest, or a swift dash through rain. Such an image is not merely a frozen moment but an honest glimpse into a natural world where humans remain silent observers.
We invite photographers to portray birds in their authentic habitats—free, wild, and untouched by traces of human civilization.
Accepted:
- Photographs of wild birds taken in their natural habitat
- The bird must be the central visual and conceptual focus of the image
Not accepted:
- Photographs of domesticated, semi-domesticated, or captive birds (including those in zoos, enclosures, on tethers, or in cages)
- Images containing people, household objects, or man-made structures (such as buildings, fences, feeders, benches, equipment, etc.), even if blurred or in the background
- Images in which the bird is not the primary subject or is lost in the frame without artistic intent (e.g., too small, out of focus, or obscured in shadow)
- Depictions of toys, models, drawings, digital illustrations, or any other non-real representations of birds
