About
Winter Still Life — silence composed of objects, each one speaking of winter.
Still life is a genre dedicated to the depiction of inanimate objects arranged into a meaningful composition. In a winter still life, the atmosphere of the cold season must be unmistakable—not through landscape or people, but solely through objects associated with winter: spruce branches, pinecones, a cup of steaming tea, ice skates, a knitted blanket, candles, frost patterns on glass, dried citrus slices, wooden spoons, porcelain, traces of snow on a windowsill, and the like.
Such an image is not merely a collection of things, but a visual statement where light, texture, and arrangement reveal mood and season. Here, winter is not a backdrop—it is the very essence.
