Levitation Photography Contest Guidelines
“Levitation” is photography about a moment when gravity seems suspended. Here, technique serves not the trick itself, but the sensation of flight. Space becomes part of the story: the air between objects gains density, and the line of motion reads like a breath. It’s not the illusion that matters, but the illusion of lightness—born from precise lighting, a clean background, and a perfect pause. The frame is still, yet movement is felt — the viewer doesn’t search for strings, they believe in the instant of suspension.
Accepted:
- Photographs with the effect of real or staged “levitation”: floating objects, liquids, particles, people, etc.
- Shots of jumping or falling, where motion is frozen in the air and creates a sense of levitation
- Any image where the idea of flight or suspension is the central concept and visual focus
Not accepted:
- Images without a sense of motion (simple static still life)
- Images of natural flight (e.g., birds in the sky, airplanes, hot air balloons, etc.) where movement follows the laws of aerodynamics
- Photographs with visible supports, strings, or holding elements
