The next morning, Ashura Day, congregations of different Mosques within the city form groups and travel to big gathering location on foot. During commemoration ceremonies it is a custom to try feeling the pain Husseyin and his followers have felt. In order to secure this, they beat themselves on the back with chains and cut their skulls with big swords.
