В 80х годах он перебрался жить на остров. Он жил в Нью Йорке в течение 13 лет, работая на стройках и в других местах. Однажды ему позвонили его родственники, чтобы сообщить о его матери, которая заболела. Он приехал попращаться с ней и так и не смог вернуться обратно в Нью йорк. Сейчас Самуель продает газеты и книги, он очень дружелюбный и веселый человек, как и большенство кубинцев.

During the 80's he managed to leave the island. He lived in New York for 13 years, working in construction and other jobs. One day he received a call from his relatives telling him that his mother was very sick. He returned to say goodbye to her and he could not go out again. Now, Samuel sells newspapers and books in a corner, he is a friendly and cheerful person like the great majority of Cubans.
