"AdalajNiVav" also know as "Rudabai Stepwell".
AdalajNiVav construction started in1498, by king of Vaghela dynasty Rana Veer Singh.
It was constructed to resolve the crisis of water from their village. As the king died in the battle against Muhammad Begada. So work of stepwell was not concluded.
When Muhammad Begada went to met king Rana Veer Singh, widow queen Rudabai, he felt in love with her and ordered to marry him. Queen didn't refused, she kept one condition to Muhammad Begada you will complete the work of stepwell. In 1499,the stepwell got ready and he made a significant effort to built which we see today an Indo-Islamic architecture.
But Muhammad Begada couldn't marry Rudabai as she committed suicide by jumping in Adalaj's stepwell. For her love and scarifice for his king Rana Veer Singh.
So, AdalajNiVav is also known as Rudabai's Stepwell.
In Gujarat local language Vav stands for stepwell.
This stepwell is located in India, in Gujarat state and in India's first world heritage city Ahmedabad by UNESCO.
