As morning broke in the Himba village, the campfires were lit, filling the air with a cool blue smoke. Amidst the daily chores, I caught this candid, unguarded moment of a mother holding her baby. She wasn\\\\\\\'t posing for my camera; she was smiling warmly at something off-frame, completely at ease in her environment. I was immediately struck by the stunning color contrast through my viewfinder—the cool blue of the morning smoke against the rich, warm tones of their skin, coated in traditional red otjize paste. I clicked the shutter to preserve this tender slice of daily life. For me, it’s a quiet testament to the joy and deep maternal affection that thrives in such a rugged environment.
