A member of the Indigenous Guard makes use of her days in the community to spend time with her family, as patrol duties require them to be absent for periods that can last up to 21 days. To carry out expeditions to invasion zones, they take turns with other community members. Before departing, a meeting is held with the entire community so that the authorities can inform everyone that they will be entering a high-risk area, and so that the dates, locations, and agreements prior to the patrols are formally recorded for the Peruvian State.
Members of the Indigenous Guard venture deep into the forest for several days to explore affected areas, placing their lives at risk.
