One of the first things I’ve learned recently in the world of dog photography is to avoid direct light whenever possible. Starting last November, we’ve been trying to catch more sunsets and sunrises during our shoots.
Silhouettes at sunset is such a tradition — I also love them, I do them often. But this time, I wanted something a little different. I wanted to show the dog itself, not just the outline. So during editing, I chose not to turn the dog completely black, but instead tried to bring back subtle colors and details.
Sunny winter days are rare here, so having this light on our shooting day felt like a small gift.
