Encounter with a Sloth Bear Family

I still recall the thrill of witnessing a sloth bear family in India’s wilderness. As a wildlife photographer and naturalist, I’ve been fortunate enough to observe many incredible creatures, but this encounter remains etched in my memory.

It was a chance sighting, really - the mother bear and her two adorable cubs ambling through the underbrush. But what struck me was when she began to carry them on her back, their tiny paws clinging to her fur as they peeked out from behind her shoulders. It was a sight I’ll never forget.

As I clicked away, capturing the tender moments between them, I felt a deep sense of connection to these incredible animals. The mother bear’s actions taught me a valuable lesson about the importance of preserving our planet’s precious wildlife - and the responsibility that comes with sharing their habitat.
