I discovered the remains of Zangla Fort, or Zangla Khar, dating back to the 11th century. The Kings of Zangla ruled this small, independent territory, even during the Dogra invasion of Ladakh in 1836.
Intrigued by ancient ruins, I was eager to explore. Though I hadn’t planned to stay overnight, that's when the true magic unfolded. Under a slightly cloudy sky, the mysterious ambiance deepened. The pin-drop silence felt like ancient souls were present, but it was peaceful, not eerie. It was truly unforgettable.
