Maroon Leaf Monkey (Presbytis rubicunda)
IUCN :VU
These monkeys are endemic to Borneo region of Malaysia. Maroon Leaf monkeys are Aroboreal primates.
I visited Gomantong caves to see the primates in that area and also to understand a bit about Bird soup nests and Bats there.
After visiting the caves I started looking for the Maroon leaf monkeys, as the sun was setting I could see some movement on top of the trees and I followed the movement realising something was moving on top of the trees.
I climbed a small hill near by to get a proper view and to my surprise there was a group of Maroon leaf monkeys moving around swiftly on these trees.
These monkeys are very agile and fast and this one has done a full split stretching the limbs across the branches and relishing the leaves.
