Kashmiri Muslim Boys play in a playground in Bait-ul-hilal Orphanage on December 30, 2015 in Chawalgham Kulgam 97 Km (10 miles) south of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir, India. The 20-year-old conflict in Indian Administered Jammu and Kashmir has left thousands of people dead and affected the lives of many women and children. According to a Save the Children study in 2010 there are 2,14,000 orphans in the Himalayan state, with 41 percent of the under-18 population orphaned, 37 percent of children having lost their parents due to the Kashmiri conflict. There has been an increase in the number of orphanages in the State, but out of the total 17 private orphanages currently functioning in Kashmir.
