Mini series by Yuji Haikal
In February 2024, I embarked on a photographic exploration of Thailand's timeless railways. Using my Leica M10 R, I captured the essence of daily life along the country's old-school train routes.
Beginning at Hua Lamphong Railway Station, I documented the bustling scenes of human activity as commuters prepared to board. Once on the train, I turned my lens to the unique experiences of traveling by rail, from the camaraderie among passengers to the picturesque landscapes passing by outside.
Through black and white photography, I aimed to evoke the nostalgia and authenticity of Thailand's railway system, a vital part of the country's cultural fabric. Each image tells a story of connection and community, showcasing how locals rely on this iconic mode of transport for their daily commute.
