Description
These images depict the ancient laurel trees of the Fanal Forest on the island of Madeira, Portugal. The location is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve known for its dense fog and twisted tree trunks. Photographers utilize the heavy mist to create high contrast between the dark foliage and the bright background. Some compositions include human figures to provide scale, while others focus solely on the landscape. A common visual motif across these shots is the silhouette of the trees emerging from the white void.
