Damian
.My name is Damian Kwasek. Photographs circulating on various websites under the pseudonym “FotoDam” are my original work. I come from the small village of Siemień, located in the Lublin Voivodeship, Parczew County, near the Piwonia and Tyśmienica rivers. The area is surrounded by over 800 hectares of fish ponds bordering the famous bird sanctuary “Dolina Tyśmienicy”, which belongs to the European ecological network Natura 2000.
Thanks to this unique location, I have the opportunity to photograph both common and extremely rare bird species found in Poland, and to this day I continue striving to capture them in the best possible way. I have been involved in nature photography for over a dozen years, beginning my journey with analog film cameras. In 2005, I decided to dedicate myself fully to photographing wildlife and purchased my first digital camera. As my passion and expectations grew, I soon moved on to DSLR cameras, starting with entry-level amateur equipment. That is how my true adventure with wildlife photography began.
Over the years, I have received countless medals, ribbons, diplomas, and awards, many of them from major international photographic organizations such as FIAP, IAAP, PSA, and GPU. My greatest achievement came in 2018, when one of my photographs won the title of Best Wildlife Photograph of the Year in the international photography competition “35AWARDS”. I was also ranked among the Top 100 photographers in the world. A year later, I had the honor of representing Poland as a jury member in the same competition alongside fifty international judges from around the globe.
In 2023, one of my biggest dreams came true when I received the title and certificate of World Master in Wildlife Photography.
