Portrait of Aymoldir Daiynbek, a 14-year old eagle huntress from the remote Altai mountains of Western Mongolia. She follows the footsteps of her father and grandfather, and was crowned the winner of the 2023 Golden Eagle Festival, in which hunters and their golden eagles are tested based on speed, agility, and accuracy.
A deep spiritual calling for Mongolia led me on an off-grid pilgrimage in October 2023, into the heart of it's westernmost province Bayan-Olgii, near the Altai mountains which border Russia, China, and Kazakhstan. The following five portraits aim to capture the fascinating faces of the Berkutchi, the semi-nomadic eagle hunters who continue to master the ancient art of taming and hunting with golden eagles, the apex predators of the sky.
I have created this body of work that I photographed in a couple of days during my visit to New York. I think the black and white medium can resonate well on street photography.
This phenomenal glacial river in the southern region of Rangárþing eystra, Iceland, flows across a vast beach of black sand into the ocean. Remote and difficult to reach, frequent changes in weather and strong relentless winds made this aerial shot a real challenge. More than worth the effort, the natural colors and ethereal shapes carved out by running glacial water has created this incredibly beautiful scene on Ísland.
In this photo series, I want to showcase the largest congregation of bears at McNeil river in Alaska, USA. This series showcases awe inspiring spectacle of the gathering, interactions between the bears, their myriad techniques to catch salmon, and hope for newer generations.
Through these photos I aim to take the viewers through a journey of the story that unfolds each summer during the salmon runs. Each year, a mesmerizing ritual unfolds as these powerful beings come together, drawn by the promise of abundant chum salmon. Their numbers steadily increase, creating a captivating display of wild unity and instinctive harmony amidst the pristine wilderness. From swift leaps and precise paw strikes to patient waiting and swift underwater maneuvers, each bear adopts a unique strategy to maximize their success. As the gathering intensifies, the bears' proximity to one another sparks moments of tension and territorial displays. Meanwhile, at a distance, a heartwarming scene unfolds—a pair of bears engaging in the tender act of mating, kindling new hope for future generations.
Opsrey Clutching Rarely Seen Specklefin Midshipman
I have been photographing Osprey fishing for over five years and this is the first time I have ever seen or captured one with a rarely seen Specklefin Midshipman (Porichthys Myriaster), a bottom feeder that dwells at depths up to 500 feet. They have rows of shiny, pearly dots (photophores) on their head and body that resemble the brass buttons on a midshipman's uniform, hence its name. Marine biologists say the phosphores are luminescent and the Midshipman can turn them on or off at will while hunting for prey in the dark abyss. This photo was taken at sunset after waiting over seven hours on a blustery day and watching the male osprey return without a catch five times while its mate was incubating her eggs.

This critter is among my favorites in the Pacific Northwest, often found in dive spots with stronger currents. Typically elusive, they tend to hide behind anemones, making them difficult to photograph. However, on this occasion, one lingered at the center of an anemone, creating the perfect composition to showcase the symbiotic relationship between the shrimp and its host. Capturing this shot required me to navigate against the current, but it was well worth the effort!
The world is full of amazing places but too often people seem to be distracted by screens. Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is put the screens away and enjoy being alive.
I was in Salt Lake City visiting friends and decided I wanted to get a photo in the Bonneville Salt Flats which is about an hour and a half away. I figured watching tv in the salt flats would be an interesting photo so I found an old box tv and borrowed a generator and extension cord. My friend Jen drove her van with me and all of my things to the salt flats.
It was hovering around freezing and very windy as I set up my camera on a tripod and put it on a timer. I ran back and forth laying and sitting in front of the tv in different ways until I got this photo. Later in photoshop I touched out the extension cord.
A black and white portrait of this magnificent double helix staircase lookup at the Bourse De Commerse in Paris with natural light and shadows at the curves. The light fixture added an extra depth and geometry to the staircase. It is extraordinarily different looking from every angle.
A brown bear catches a chum salmon while the McNeil river gushes in the background. This photograph was taken in the McNeil state sanctuary in Alaska, USA which is known for the the largest known gathering of brown bears in the world.
I captured this Great Blue Heron hunting a Gopher, after following the hunting behavior of this bird for several weeks. I will always be amazed by the GBH's patience and the the lightning strike this bird launched to snap up this unfortunate gopher from its burrow. However, I could not help but feel very sorry for this little rodent. The timeless dance between the predator and the prey is so fascinating to witness!
A battle ensues for the right to possess a young mare between two young bachelor stallions, with the young mare then being pursued by the eager bachelor stallion. Wild Mustangs of the McCullough Peaks HMA in Northwest Wyoming.
Sprinting through the dust cloud!
Mom & baby Rhino running so fast, kicking up a dust cloud that was beautifully lit by the rising Sun in the morning! This critically endangered species is quite a special sight on the Masai Mara plains.
Great Gray Owl, a rare visitor to central New Hampshire, graced us with a brief visit. After an unsuccessful hunt, this owl silently flew out of the tall, snowy grass back to its hunting perch.
The fiery Fox
Surrounded by sunsets soft glow
Protective eyes stare
This photo was taken in Washington in June, 2023. My main goal was to photograph foxes in their natural environment. At around 9 pm when the light was fading, I got very lucky. A parent and pup appeared on the path, with a brilliant sunset glow behind them. This was taken on a tripod at f6.3, 600mm, 1/2000sec, iso 4000.
Mooncrossing. My passion is to take photos of the moon and birds, this was my ultimate moment. Morning light, fullmoon setting, Sandhill cranes passing in front of the moon.
Within this scene, the beauty of nature serves as the canvas for an unscripted moment, breaking free from childhood boredom. Absent are the screens and toys meant for diversion, allowing for a genuine connection to blossom between two living beings, a manifestation of the truly unanticipated.

This Great Grey Owl, near Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone National Park, finally got the meal it wanted after several unsuccessful attempts. These photos are representative of 38 shots taken in the full sequence.
This image is from Columbia River Hills in this spring. This season I drove there more 7-8 times to get some perfect condition. And it is 2 hrs. away from where I lived (one way). Even then, I did not get what I wanted. All I wanted a nice clouds at Sunset over Mt Hood with these flower backdrop.
I was in a friend's backyard photographing hummingbirds when this Anna's Hummingbird landed on a branch a few feet from where I sat. I was able to slowly redirect my camera without scaring him away. The photo was taken mid-blink which makes it appear as though he is closing his eyes and resting.
Black Friday dawn William Kirsch Preserve in North Ranch Woods, Little Rock, Arkansas, US I was
surprised by a mystical fog quietly floating on Lake Maumelle, around cypress trees, back-dropped by
autumnal colors. Fog-shrouded scenes are mystical and mysterious.
This tree is my similarity and singularity. I surrender to the process of being different and
believe I have value--not because of what I do but who I am to God.
