All black and white subjects with an emphasis on shapes and structures, light and dark, sun and shade. My images emerge from deep human contacts and a continious intensive look at the dynamic environment. I decide which environment i choose, how i experience it and which emotion will be reflected in the image in question. Inevitably i manipulate the complexity of the environment/emotion to a greater or lesser extent by among other things, sketching a strong geometric framework and maintaining well-considered symmetry.
Her nickname is Tornado Taboo and I can tell you this working cocker girl lives up to her name. She was about 16 weeks old in this picture and sat still for the full 2 seconds. Being fast was key here.

By combining the past and present and working with natural light, I want to add more drama in the photo
The Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo), a raptor known for its versatility and adaptability, exhibits a fascinating feeding behavior that underscores its role as a skilled predator in its natural habitat. When it spots its prey, often small mammals, birds, or even reptiles, from its lofty perch or while soaring high in the sky, it swoops down with remarkable speed and precision. Using its sharp talons, the buzzard firmly grasps its prey, ensuring it cannot escape. The bird then uses its strong, hooked beak to tear into the flesh, consuming its meal with methodical efficiency. This moment of predation is not only a display of the buzzard's hunting prowess but also a critical part of the ecological balance, controlling populations of small animals and contributing to the health of its ecosystem.
In November 2023 I went to Makomp, a small village of the Temne tribe in Sierra Leone. I was there with BoardersNotBorders, a young non profit organisation that aims to make skateboarding accessible in places of the world where it isn't possible yet.
With 5 volunteers, a very limited budget and an army of locals, we built the first skatepark of Sierra Leone as part of a bigger project lead by The Cotton Tree Foundation. They wish to build a community centre supporting people who are thrown out of the society if they don't participate in female genital mutilation.
Sierra Leone has had to endure the most brutal civil war ever recorded and on top of that they've been through a terrible ebola crisis. They're now one of the poorest countries of the world trying to rebuild their nation. While building the skatepark together with the people of Makomp we formed a strong bond. We shared stories, we danced, laughed and cried together and i've never felt more welcome in my life.
BoardersNotBorders was founded by Kojo Kubii, who's been in contact with the village for more than five years now. When we were done building the skatepark and waiting for the concrete to dry, him and I went around the whole village and made a portrait of everyone present those two days. I was behind the camera, Kubii writing down every single name, but also their jobs, dreams, nicknames etc. He later went around with a sound recorder to capture some of the shocking stories about the war, the ebola crisis and the hard circumstances they live under.
These are the faces of the beautiful people of Makomp.
- Рейтинг фотографов по странам и городам строится на основе 3-х лучших фотографий автора и их относительной позиции в каждой отдельной номинации.
