THE THIRD MOST FAMOUS PINE OF SAXONY SWITZERLAND
Pölkingkiefer. At least that's what everyone calls her. It will probably be the most famous and most photographed pine in Saxon Switzerland. Or it will be the second just after the Stativkiefer which we can find on Affensteine but this is longer and further hike so I believe that in the imaginary ranking of photographers' popularity the pine tree on the ruins of the Neurathen rock castle will be in the lead. Well so I was seduced by this pine which was made famous by the German nature photographer Fritz Pölking. My friend Dan and I went hunting for this pine. This was exactly the twenty-first attempt (in four years). And that's just because you're still waiting for the right conditions. It must be the right sun, enough fog and most importantly few people visiting the location otherwise they will keep running behind your back and stomping on the footbridge so you won't take a sharp photo. This day however everything worked out for me so I finally brought her home.
