Turtle Island

This turtle, named Ellie, was under care at Lissenung Island Turtle Conservation in Papua New Guinea. This photo was taken the day it was released. The resort rescues turtles kept in captivity and also collects turtle eggs that would otherwise be eaten by locals, hatch them and release the baby turtles, with hope that they will one day come back to the island and restart the life cycle.
