the lost singer
I found Julian in the middle of the protests walking with his little suitcase full of things, when I asked him if he could take some photos, he just smiled and told me he needed to sit down. He did so on the sidewalk and leaning his back against the wall. We talked for half an hour and he told me in his stories that he was part of the Santiago choir, he remembered the opera while singing excerpts from them and despite being 83 years old his voice still sounded pretty good. He is in favor of the marches and hopes that one day they can raise the solidarity pension that is only 150 dollars a month and that only has enough to eat. He believes that the demonstrations can produce a change in Chile and that he has had to be strong to face the hard life, but as Julian says: "I am a scorpion and scorpions know how to fight."
