The tuberculate cuttlefish is native to South African waters. It is capable of changing colour, primarily for concealment. Acidification of the ocean is a particular threat to cuttlefish. It increases calcification in the cuttlebone and harms the cuttlefish\\\'s buoyancy structure. Its real name is “Beautiful Cuttlefish” and is appropriate due to its beautiful warty mantle and three-pronged cirri around its eyes. It can change colour to blend in with its environment. It uses colour change to communicate, especially during mating. These highly intelligent “Beautiful cuttlefishes” use tiny cells on the skin surface, filled with red, yellow, and brown pigments, called chromatophores, to change colours in seconds. The picture was taken at Omega Reef in False Bay, Cape Peninsula, South Africa. Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera and Canon EF8-15mm f/4L fisheye USM lens in a Nauticam underwater housing with two Ikelite DS 161 underwater strobes.
