A sweeping architectural curve cuts through the frame, enclosing a solitary tower within negative space. The city is pushed into absence, leaving only structure, rhythm, and controlled light. By eliminating color and human presence, the image reduces architecture to pure tension between curve and vertical, where scale is felt, not measured, and silence becomes the dominant force.
This series explores the sculptural geometry of the Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Centre in Avilés, Spain. Through controlled framing and the removal of human presence, the architecture is reduced to pure curvature, negative space, and structural rhythm. The sweeping concrete forms and suspended volumes become abstract compositions of light and mass, where silence replaces activity and space becomes the dominant subject. Each frame isolates a fragment of Niemeyer’s vision, transforming the complex into a study of continuity, balance, and restrained monumentality.
– The rating of photographers by countries and cities is based on the three best photos of the author and their relative position in each separate nomination. Rating in the nomination "Mobile Photography" is taken into account to a lesser extent for rating formation. The list by country and city shows one photo of the author with the best rating.
– Only those photos have been published in the list that passed the second stage of voting.
– Only one strongest photo from each author is counted in the Best Photos ranking. Even if a photographer has several published works, only the highest-rated one is used to calculate their ranking position. As a result, the order of photos in the list may not match the author's final ranking position.
