A TOSS BETWEEN LIFE & DEATH.
I captured this remarkable moment from Purbasthali Bird Sanctuary, West Bengal, India. A White-throated Kingfisher was sitting on a perch with a Frog hunt. The kingfisher consumed the frog wonderfully. At first, the bird killed the hunt by its sharp beaks, moved the frog body in its mouth for a while. At last, the bird became successful to swallow the frog totally. The whole process took approximately 15 minutes. The Sighitng was really a notable experience for me. I made a series of the whole. This image is from that series. By the way, in spite of being named as kingfisher, the bird always prefer frog, reptiles, crabs etc as its food & generally avoid to hunt fishes.. So this bird breaks the "stereotypes" of other kingfishers by avoiding fishes, isn't it??
