The Pala’uh is amongst the cluster of indigenous people on the eastern coast of Sabah whose livelihood largely depends on the maritime resources and culture that manifest their attachment to the sea. The Pala’uh community is categorized under the Bajau Laut (Sea Bajaus) or Sama DiLaut ethnic. Their lifestyle on their boats and nomadic way of life at sea has led to term Pala’uh or Perahu (Boat).
