Panorama of the Milky Way Arch, La Palma, April 2021
During spring months Milky Way core starts to appear in the early morning sky in the southeast so it becomes possible to photograph the whole Milky Way Arch almost at 180 degrees angle from north to the south. I chose Pico de la Cruz, one of the summits of La Palma Island as a location to spend the night of shooting. Around 4 am Milky Way was high enough in the sky so I was able to start shooting at 50mm and got pretty decent arch shape without any distortion of the surrounding stars. Although the place was very windy protecting my gear with clothes, I was able to make some sharp shots. All these colors of the Arch, green airglow emission, purely dark sky and the lights of the neighboring Tenerife Island on the horizon become visible and remind me about that unforgettable experience.
