Landscape
I was awarded IPA Honorable Mention Prize and ND World Photography Awards for this work. This work was approved and selected for an on screen exhibition at Saatchi Gallery in London. “Landscape” was also finally selected for London Artrooms Fair Seoul World Contest Exhibition.
The title “Landscape” in this work doesn’t mean an expanse of scenery or view through our eyes. I didn’t take shots of real scenery. I tried to paint something with camera through my hand gesture to express what I thougt at the moment. As a result, I could get this photo of my subjective landscape. I expressed flaing rage inside me as beautifully as possible as biblical saying “Love your enemies” teaches. Marc Chagall, one of the great painters throughout art history is famous for his depicting his anger in rather beautiful way like this, which is called aesthetics of paradox.
Just like painters dash and drip colors with their brushes and knives, I use my camera as a tool for expressing my inner thoughts and emotion. With few exceptions, I rarely take a direct shot at subjects. Instead, I find a more creative ways to paint with my camera to evoke what I conjure up inside.
Oftentimes I shake my camera for gestural effects. I seldom take shots. I always try to make shots. I paint shots.
The "Landscape" is one of my such camera painting artworks, through which I hoped to express lyrical abstract world of photo art. The "Landscape" I painted is just the evocation of my subjective view of outside world.
